English Championship club Coventry sacked manager Chris Coleman on Tuesday in the aftermath of a disappointing season at the Ricoh Arena.
Coleman took charge at Coventry in February 2008 on a three-and-a-half year contract, but he failed to deliver promotion to the Premier League and has paid the price.
City briefly mounted a push for the play-offs this season before slumping to a final position of 19th after 11 matches without a win culminating in Sunday s 4-0 home defeat to Watford.
That proved the final straw for chairman Ray Ranson and former Fulham boss Coleman was axed after a board meeting on Monday.
Ranson admitted it was hard to dismiss a man he has enjoyed a strong relationship with.
He said: It is true I enjoyed a very close working relationship with Chris and it s been a pleasure to work with him since his arrival.
The board would like to place on record their thanks for his efforts over two and a half years.
We will not be rushed into finding a successor and the board will explore every avenue to appoint the right manager to take Coventry forward.
