PSV striker Stefan Nijland has joined A-League champions Brisbane Roar on loan for the rest of the season.
The Roar s lack of depth up front was exposed by the suspension of key forward Besart Berisha, with Ben Halloran forced to lead the line against Perth Glory on Saturday.
While the Roar picked up a 1-0 win at nib Stadium, it has not stopped coach Mike Mulvey swooping for Nijland, 24.
The Groningen product is expected to link up with new team-mates at training on Thursday and could be available for the match with the Central Coast Mariners the next day, pending his international clearance.
Stefan is tall, quick and has an eye for goal, Mulvey said via club statement of his new signing, who is a former Netherlands international.
I m confident he ll fit neatly into our style of play and hopefully inject more cutting edge to our attack.
He is a different kind of striker to Besart and I believe the two can become a very dangerous attacking combination.
Nijland has made 18 league appearances for PSV since joining from FC Groningen in 2008, and has spent a series of loans away from the club.
He scored one goal in 15 Eredivisie appearances for NEC last campaign, but has failed to feature for PSV this season.
